Wedding Photography - My friend has a DSLR...

Hey readers of my blog and future brides!

After receiving a phone call from a client saying that they were canceling their photography booking and getting their guests to take photos because they have "DSLR professional cameras". I thought I'd do a blog post before any other future brides make the same mistake, one that they would truly regret. Especially, on one of the most special events in their life.

1. Wedding photography is a job! Photographers are always aware of what is happening. They can
anticipate moments and emotion through experience gained within their field of photography . They are always ready.

2. You invite guests to be a part of your wedding day, to watch and enjoy it. Do you really expect them to always be on the ball, ready to capture those very special moments, without being distracted by family and friends?

3. Wedding photographers have the experience to work under pressure. Time management is essential as weddings are unpredictable, you need to be able to expect the unexpected - what you thought would be a 2 hour shoot before the reception becomes a 30min shoot.

4. Wedding Photographers have BACK-UP equipment. I can't stress this enough! Do you really want to rely on a guest with only one camera body and lense? It's all good if everything goes well, but what happens if it fails/drops on the floor and breaks (accidents do happen!)? Can you really blame them for not being able to continue shooting. Do you really want to jeopardise your friendship because of this?

5. Wedding photographers have the expertise to shoot in all conditions, RAIN, HAIL or SHINE. It doesn't matter if your wedding is in the smallest, darkest room or in a church were you can't go anywhere near the altar, we WILL get the shots!

6. Last of all, Linh and I are wedding photographers, not fashion, product, animal or landscape photographers.
You can get a fashion or landscape photographer to photograph your wedding. Sure they can take photos but that is not their specialty. They have not learnt to shoot in an uncontrolled environment, where you can't control the weather or if things get delayed.

Do you just want a photo...

or do you want a wedding photographer to CREATE an image!
